Reflexology is a science based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all glands, organs, parts and systems of the body. The physical act of applying ipressure using thumb, finger and hand techniques to these reflex areas results in the reduction of stress, which promotes physiological changes in the body.

Your feet have over 7,000 nerve endings that provide extensive interconnections with all areas of the body through the spinal cord and brain. Reflexology is a natural method of activating those nerve endings and the healing powers of the human body. It consists of stimulating pressure points or reflexes on the feet that affect every gland, organ, and part of the body in a non invasive manner.

According to Michele Roche, education director for Repechage, reflexology is the science and art of stimulating the body's healing forces through massage technique. It is a form of compression massage based on the principle that various points in the hands and feet called meridian or reflex center points, directly correspon to organs in the body. When pressure is applied to any of these points, the body experiences stress relief and total relaxation.

By skillfully and systematically applying pressure to points on the feet, the reflexologist relieves stress and promotes relaxation. Reflexology also improves blood supply and the transmission of nerve impulses and brings the body into balance. It is very safe, yet it provides amazing results. The session is very nurturing and it simply feels wonderful.
